A group of children from a Sheffield council estate got together to cajole local adults into helping them clean up a stream which runs through the estate. A wildlife group came along to help, and the children found fish, shrimp, beetles, lots of worms and several frogs. There were even reports of the now rare water vole, or water rat. It is hoped the children's involvement in the clean up will help keep the stream in better condition in the future. |
