Model Car Racing
Every week, children and adults take over a large sports centre in the Derbyshire town of Dronfield to race radio controlled cars round a tortuous circuit of hairpin bends and jumps. The cars can reach speeds of 30mph, which, participants claim, equates to a scale speed of over 200 mph. Many of the younger competitors admit they are hoping to be racing drivers when they grow up.
