Judging a champion dachshund at a show in Sheffield. Owners pointed out that the dogs were originally bred to hunt wild boar in the forests of Germany, and can still return to being savage hunters given the chance. One prizewinning owner recalled a duck landing in her dogs' pen one afternoon. "I was too late to save it", she said. "It didn't stand a chance". |
